What we delivered this year
The news above is not a statement of intentions: this is a summary of what was actually delivered, and who worked with us on it.
The most significant administrative event this year was the approval of the association's change of name from the Community Development Association in Mahd to Al-Mahd Humanitarian Services Association, approved by the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development — a step that reflects the widening of our work from community development alone to humanitarian services in the broader sense. The licence number did not change.
On the ground, we delivered the Zakat of Knowledge Initiative with five in-person training courses, one of which drew more than five hundred people, and theThe Medical Beds Project which provided complete medical beds for patients receiving health care at home, and theSupport for Productive Families project which distributed appliances and essential equipment — refrigerators, ovens and the like — to improve the quality of what these families make and their ability to compete in the local market. Both projects were backed by the Ehsan platform.
During Ramadan we delivered the Iftar for a Fasting Person initiative providing iftar meals for those fasting and for expatriate communities in the governorate, and we launched the Purple Saturday initiative for people with disabilities, with a number of local shops taking part through special offers and discounts. We also announced the opening of the Women's Empowerment and theYouth of Values and theThe Giving Kitchen and theProductive Families programs, part of our approved portfolio, and registration for them is open on this site.
We are careful never to publish news of a project that has not yet been delivered, and never to attribute to the association a photograph that is not of its own work — the photographs published on this site were taken by the association's team during delivery.
